review i found online: ANGE is, no doubt about it, the most popular of the French Progressive rock bands. Led by the charismatic Christian Decamps, this band immediately began to make music with an intense theatrical air - one that probably accounts for the GENESIS comparisons. They made a distinctly French music - poignant, caustic anf often satirical. ANGE is a French band that was pretty much a product of the late 60's culture, with a political approach on their lyrics, along with a very particular instrumental style, although influences of local bands like ATOLL, MONA LISA, GRIME, ORION and others are present on their music. It has changed a lot along in their discography as many musicians have passed through its line-up. as well as many musicians have passed through its line-up. Due to its political characteristic, they never overcame to a larger label, so they never got worldwide recognition, although their music deserved more than they had accomplished.

ANGE were definitely at their peak (like many 70s prog bands) in the early to mid seventies, and their first seven LPs are all highly recommended progressive releases. This poetic and typically French rock was noticeable from the band's beginning in 1969, and then got more formal on "Caricatures", their first album issued three years later.

Their fourth: "Emile Jacotey" (1975) is a transitional album which seems to be sort of a concept story with an old French man as narrator. The arrangements are not particularly complicated, and the members of ANGE are certainly not virtuosos, they possess incredible emotional depth and "cosmic sensibilities".
